DJ Biography
One day in Pittsburgh over ten years ago I decided I was going to be a DJ. I wanted to be the life of the party. The one who had the ability to bring a smile to everyone's face and do it in an innovative way with class and style.
That's where the journey began...
10 years and over 2000 events later, I realized I made the right decision. Being a DJ has always been a passion of mine, and to this day I treat every event as it's my first. While most DJs perform as a hobby, I have made it into my career.
During the early part of my career, I was a student at Indiana University of PA. While living up there I would DJ at the local college bars such as Wolfendales, The Coney, and Boomerangs during the week. On the weekends I would travel around western Pennsylvania DJing private events such as weddings, school dances, corporate events, and more!
Then I was offered the chance all young DJs strive for. To DJ at the #1 dance club in Pittsburgh known as "Matrix." Matrix was Pittsburgh's only megaclub and consisted of 4 night clubs under one roof. Once you paid admission, you could go into each club as much as you wanted. My job was to take one of these clubs and increase the "fun factor" so people would stay and dance. That's when I got the idea to change one of the rooms into a "fun 80s party" which is now known as "EXIT." Everybody loved the new 80s room because it was simply fun. Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Cure, B-52's, Journey... There was something there to play for everyone!
Following graduation from IUP, I decided it was time for a change. It was nice DJing for the #1 night club in the city for over 4 years, but I needed a new challenge. I ended up leaving Matrix to DJ at 2 new night clubs called Prive Ultralounge and Krobar. It was a great challenge to take on 2 new projects at the same time and the challenge payed off when it lead to me being voted the #1 Night Club DJ in Pittsburgh by the readers of The City Paper. After winning that award, I started DJing in almost every major dance club in the city. I have worked at Zen, Bar Room, McFaddens, Altar Bar, and The Town Tavern to name a few.
In 2009, I decided it was time for another change. Instead of sticking to only Pittsburgh, I now travel the entire east coast! From night clubs to weddings, if there's a party on the east coast, I can do it! I also upgraded my web site to web 2.0 and added interactive planning tools for my clients. They can now login to their special "client only area" and customize everything from the music to the announcements!
It's been a long journey, but now that I look back, those 10 years of experience sure do make a difference. Next time you hire a DJ for an event, please make sure it's a fulltime DJ. We're the kind of DJs who put everything we have into every event we do!
