DJ Biography

1998 - I was raised 30 miles north of Pittsburgh in a town called Hopewell, located just across the Beaver County line. Coming from a sports background, I've been competitive my entire life, always trying to be the best. At age 17, I became fascinated with DJs and the way they scratch and mix beats together to create an energy in the room that is second to none. This energy is known as a 'vibe.' Right then and there I walked away from my normal lifestyle and purchased some used DJ turntables and some vinyl records. I practiced everyday, to the point where I got my first pair of DJ headphones from my mom! For some reason, I think they were more for her than me, but I liked them the same. During the summer of 2000, I went back to that original nightclub that I first discovered DJs mixing beats and got hired as their new DJ!

2000 - Shortly after I attended 1 year at Robert Morris University, I transferred to IUP where I quickly gained popularity from being known as "the DJ" on campus. From makeshift nightclubs in the basements of old houses to the nightclubs uptown, I played for the college crowd 5 days a week. This lead to me refining my DJ skills and really learning how to read a small crowd, while gaining a degree at the same time.

2003 - In 2003, I got my first taste of radio. I joined a local top 40 radio station called B94 and became their on-air intern for the morning show with John, Dave, Bubby, & Shelly. This experience lead to me changing my college major from computers to communications media. Communications allowed me to still use computers, but in a more creative way.

This same year I continued to DJ and distribute hundreds of demos to whomever would listen. One of these demos reached the hands of a kid whose dad at the time owned almost every nightclub in Pittsburgh. After talking to his son, not only did he hire me, but he hired me for his biggest nightclub... Matrix. For those who don't know, Matrix Nightclub consisted of 4 huge rooms, each of which were considered their own nightclub. Combine all 4 rooms and you get the ultimate nightclub experience! Each room had it's own theme. My room was originally tribal house music, but once I started I changed the theme to 80s. My room, known as "Club Exit", quickly became one of the wildest parties in Pittsburgh every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. And so it happened, I created the 80s room at Matrix! :-) Matrix was recently bought, converted, and re-opened at "Carson Street Live." You can find them in Station Square, Pittsburgh.

2007 - After 4 years at Matrix and helping them win multiple awards for being the best dance club in Pittsburgh, I left to pursue new opportunities. I started to work with several different nightclub owners in town and got the chance to DJ the grand-opening for two of the newest hot spots at the time - Prive Ultralounge and Krobar Ultralounge. As these places grew in popularity, so did I. At the same time I landed another internship in radio, except this time with 2 rock stations - 102.5 DVE and The X at 105.9. Once I completed my internship, I was hired by The X and Fox Sports Radio.

2008 - Up to this point , I was working in the nightclub scene 6 nights/week. This led to me winning best nightclub DJ in Pittsburgh, which means a lot to me because it was voted on by the readers of the Pittsburgh City Paper! It was a goal I wanted to achieve since day one, but once I achieved it I knew I needed a new goal. I decided to take 3 months off from work and when I was done, I went back to the nightclubs and also took on the new challenge of weddings.

2011 - Winner of 2011 Best of The Knot and voted in the Top 5% of Wedding Wire!!

Winning those awards on top of Best Night Club DJ in Pittsburgh really changed my life. I continue to DJ for Pittsburgh's most popular nightclubs during the week, but now save my weekends for weddings and other private events. Nightclub DJ's are rapidly increasing in popularity for weddings because the modern couple doesn't want the same cheesy DJ their parents had.
